Course Objective:
The Essay Writing I Course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation for writing descriptive and narrative essays of 3–5 paragraphs. This course emphasizes creativity, structure, and the use of vivid language to engage readers.
Course Description:
Students in this Essay Writing I Course will develop foundational skills in descriptive writing and narrative storytelling. They will learn to bring ideas to life through imagery, bold adjectives, and attention to chronological order, while connecting personal significance to their narratives.
Students will receive personalized instructor feedback to improve both content and style, helping them refine their essays through the revision process. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to create well-structured and engaging short essays across multiple formats.
Students will have the option to write:
3-paragraph essays for concise expression
4-paragraph essays for intermediate development
5-paragraph essays for more detailed and structured writing
Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on:
Developing vivid imagery and strong descriptive language
Writing engaging personal narratives
Organizing essays with chronological order and logical flow
Incorporating instructor feedback to strengthen writing skills
