Course Objective
The Introduction to Poetry course introduces students to the essential vocabulary and skills needed for reading and writing poetry. Learners will gain hands-on experience with basic poetic forms, develop an understanding of rhyme and rhythm, and begin building their own personal poetry collection. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

    • Identify and use key poetry vocabulary and concepts

    • Recognize rhyme patterns and count syllables accurately

    • Apply rhythm and meter in original poems

    • Write basic poetry forms, including haiku, limericks, and free verse

    • Read and analyze poems by renowned poets to enhance understanding

Course Description
This course is designed for students beginning their journey into the world of poetry. Through guided exercises and creative practice, learners will explore the fundamentals of poetic construction and develop confidence in both reading and writing poems.

Students will experience:

    • Writing their own poems using basic forms and structures

    • Understanding and applying rhyme, rhythm, and syllable patterns

    • Creating a personal poetry collection that showcases growth and creativity

    • Reading examples from renowned poets to see how techniques are applied in professional work

    • Developing the vocabulary and skills to read, interpret, and compose poetry with confidence
