Course Objective:
The Grammar Course I: Parts of Speech is designed to introduce students to the eight parts of speech in English grammar and ensure they can recognize and use each correctly in their writing. This course lays a solid foundation for strong language arts skills.

Course Description:
Grammar I is the first course in a three-part series focused on essential elements of language arts. Students in this grammar course will learn to identify and use all eight parts of speech:

• • Nouns – naming people, places, things, and ideas

  • Verbs – expressing actions and states of being

  • Adjectives – describing nouns

  • Adverbs – modifying verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs

  • Prepositions – showing relationships between words

  • Pronouns – replacing nouns for clarity and conciseness

  • Conjunctions – connecting words, phrases, and clauses

  • Interjections – expressing emotion

Attention will also be given to important writing conventions, including capitalization, verb tense, homophones, and other common grammar challenges. Students will receive practice exercises, examples, and feedback to strengthen their understanding and application of grammar rules.
