Course Objective
The Creative Writing Workshop engages students who enjoy storytelling and writing by providing hands-on experience in sharing, critiquing, and revising work. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

    • Participate in constructive peer critiques to improve their own writing

    • Analyze and evaluate short stories for structure, style, and narrative techniques

    • Apply feedback to revise and strengthen their own 5–10 page short stories

    • Develop confidence in sharing original creative work

    • Learn from professional examples of storytelling techniques

Course Description
This creative writing workshop immerses students in the collaborative process of sharing and critiquing short stories. Learners will gain practical experience in evaluating peers’ work while applying feedback to improve their own writing. The course emphasizes constructive criticism, revision, and refinement of original stories.

Students will also practice:

    • Giving and receiving peer feedback in a professional and supportive environment

    • Revising short stories to strengthen plot, characterization, dialogue, and style

    • Analyzing short stories by published authors to understand effective storytelling techniques

    • Expanding creative writing skills in narrative, descriptive, and thematic elements

    • Building confidence in sharing and improving original work

By completing this course, students will gain a solid foundation in creative writing workshop practices, learning how to give and use critiques effectively while producing polished, engaging short stories. This course encourages creativity, collaboration, and continual improvement of writing skills.
