writing workshop

Posts on Fridays (Grades 8-12)

Course Objective: To engage students who enjoy creative writing and storytelling with the workshop experience of sharing and critiquing work.

Course Description: Through this 8 week course, students will learn how to properly “workshop” a short story written by their peers as well as how to use a good critique to improve their own work. Students will submit their own short story of 5-10 pages and will be given an opportunity for the class to workshop the piece under instructor supervision. Additionally, students will read short stories by authors who exemplify the storytelling techniques they are learning in the course.
